Empties #6. Skincare and makeup.

It seems I was really into collecting empties recently. Can you tell?:D Also I have this waves of blogging where I feel like posting few posts in a row and then..silence 😀

Let’s skip introduction and jump right into the sea of products I finished some time ago.

empties skincare and makeup

Let’s start with skincare and one nail product…

skincare empties

Noreva Exfoliac Facial Scrub – my new favorite exfoliant which I use already for quite long time. The one before I liked was Bioderma Sebium Exfoliating Gel but Exfoliac one is even better. It offers both chemical and physical exfoliation and it does it very good. You should apply it and massage for 2 minutes. I like also to leave it for a bit while I’m shaving my legs or washing in shower. Skin is smooth and breathing. If you have sensitive skin it’s probably not a product for you. But oilier girls and those who use scrubs in general should like it. I find a lot of scrubs useless. They supposed to take all dead cells but skin doesn’t feel smooth and fresh after. This one works!

Repurchase: Already did.

Bioderma Crealine H2o Micellar Solution – makeup removing solution which is just perfect. I used lots of bottles of Bioderma Micellar solution. I tried Vichy, Garnier, Loreal, Nivea and Bioderma is still the best. Garnier one is really popular but Bioderma is milder and removes makeup bit better and faster.

Repurchase: Already did.

Bioderma Hydrabio Tonique Moisturizing Toning Lotion – I was skipping toner for quite some time even though from teenage years  I religiously was buying some toners because it seemed to be an absolutely necessary step. Now I came back to them because a) sometimes I need this tiny bit of extra moisture under my cream; b) the water has a lot of chalk (how do you say it right? hard water)  so I feel like toner became an important step to remove whatever left on my face from water. I see how easily  spoons, forks, shower head, etc get stained so.. yeah, not happening to my face 😀 . What I was writing about? Oh yeah, Hydrabio Toning lotion. It’s a nice mild toner for sensitive dehydrated skin. My skin can be sometimes dehydrated but in general I think it will suit for lots of skin types. It contains glycerin, niacinamide, allantoin and of course other ingredients, so it’s moisturizing and calming.  If I feel like serum is too much for day time under my cream but cream is just a bit not enough this toner comes to help.

Repurchase: Already did but will use it in autumn.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Fluide Intense soothing fluid – this is a fluid I bought when I needed something calming and super neutral for my skin. It was dehydrated but oily, but had some blemishes. It seemed to calm skin and be just neutral nice fluid. Weird thing is that sometimes it felt like I had a film on my skin but when I used it later in few month again it felt totally normal. It’s light but moisturizing fluid which is designed for reactive sensitive skin. I absorbs fast, didn’t make my skin oilier, helped with some dehydration. No special effect, just neutral moisturizing soothing fluid. I heard that original version is better even it’stiny bit thicker but I didn’t check.

Repurchase: No, unless I will need some very neutral soothing cream.

The Body Shop Blue Corn 3-in-1 deep purifying scrub mask – OMG, I read so many fantastic reviews on this mask. For me it’s 100% awful. It burns, even my skin didn’t turn red but it was intense burning which lasted quite some time. Light burning happened with some other masks as wellwhich was bearable and passed in few seconds. Here it’s really unpleasant feeling! But let’s forget about burning.. does it do anything? I tried it few times and no effect. People were saying it works with blackheads and pores. It doesn’t work for me. At all. My skin doesn’t even look cleaner or refreshed.

Repurchase: No.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash and Mask – this mask costs cheaper than The Body Shop and it does have an effect. I use it as a wash if I want to feel “deeper” clean but mostly as a mask. It tightens pores around nose and skin looks brighten and refreshed. It doesn’t do much to pores on my chin ( nothing does) but it works nicely on other areas of my face. No, you don’t get absolutely smooth porcelain skin but there is a noticeable effect.

Repurchase: Already did.

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask – I didn’t understand this mask. It did nothing. Absolutely nothing for my skin. I tried it when my skin was dehydrated. In the morning it looked totally the same. It’s a cream mask which you leave overnight. There are good reviews. But for me.. I’m glad I didn’t get full size.

Repurchase: No.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat  – almost perfect top coat. I bought it several times. Pluses: dries nail polishes really fast, adds looots of shine, prolongs a bit wear of nail polish but nothing fantastic. Minuses: when you reach half of the bottle it starts to get thicker and it’s harder to work with. Once it’s 1/3 left I just bought a new one. I repurchased it several times.

Repurchase: “No” for now as I mostly use Essie Gel Couture.  I have Seche Vite now but I’m not getting it actually.

IsaDora Insane Volume Lash Styler Mascara – I saw how it looks on few other people.. fantastic. On me.. meh. I couldn’t get used to its brush and it stayed quite liquidy or too creamy for really long. I couldn’t make it work for my eyes at all. I got very black lashes but I couldn’t separate them good and it got too messy ..etc etc.

Repurchase: No.

Artdeco Lip Brilliance 72 – It was beautiful gloss with shimmer. I think I even have a post about it 🙂 I will add tag for it under this post. I couldn’t feel shimmer on my lips and it wasn’t obvious and weird.  Not too sticky, nice applicator, beautiful vanilla scent. I really enjoyed it and used a lot. I got recently Hydra Booster gloss from Artdeco and the packaging has a problem. I’m almost sure it’s leaking. I didn’t have such problems with Lip Brilliance. And I think the consistency of Lip Brilliance differs from Hydra Booster, which seems thicker. I’m getting rid of this lip gloss because it’s already quite old and I had a good use out of it.

Repurchase: No as I have several very good glosses and I don’t need more.

Gosh Defining Brow Gel – As the name suggests it’s a defining gel. It does define separate hairs very nicely. The color was good for my brows, not too dark or too light (002). What it doesn’t do it doesn’t have good hold. I have some crazy hairs and I need some hold. It’s just soft defining gel which looks nice but lacks one important for me feature.

Repurchase: No. I need stronger hold and there are other gels I want to try.

Artdeco Eyeshadow Base – it’s a good base which I used quite long and repurchased. It’s a satin base, which has some super tiny-tiny shimmer but for me it’s not detectable once you apply eyeshadows. Eyshadows stick good to it and I didn’t experience any problem with blending. It comes in a jar which is not very comfortable and it has some scent. I don’t feel it unless I put my nose into jar but some people say they do.

Repurchase: “No” for now. I think I enjoy using Urban Decay Anti-Aging primer potion more.

Collistar Eyebrow Gel 3-in-1 from Perfect Eybrow Kit  – beautiful brow gel with fibers, which comes in three colors (mine is 02). If you have not too sparse brows you can use it on its own. That what I did for long time. It has medium hold. It adds just enough color and thickness.

Repurchase: May be. I have two Estee Lauder Gels now and I don’t think I will repurchase them.

L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Xpert 102 Cool Blonde – It’s one of those triangular shaped retractable brow pencils. The biggest plus it gets for color. It’s just perfect. Not too cool, not too dark, not too warm. It blends really nicely with my brows even they are greish. The pencil shape is something some people may have to get used to. I don’t think it will suit those who like such tiny super thin pencils. This one allows you to make thin strokes while it’s new with one angle of triangular but later it becomes just a pencil. So far this is the best shade pencil which doesn’t cost fortune for me. If you have light hair or light brown you may want to swatch it in store:). My first pencil broke when there was 0,5 cm left but i sticked it back and it worked fine.

Repurchase: Already did … 3 pencils :D.

Golden Rose Dream Eybrow Pencil (If I remember right #306) – very nice pencil, but bit softer and bit warmer than Loreal.

Repurchase: No as it’s not available here and Loreal pencil has more suitable color for me.

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield SPF30 – very confusing primer as I can’t really decide do I like it enough to repurchase or not. What I like that it has SPF and some skincare ingredients. It works well under my foundation and does prolong foundation wear a little bit. It feels siliconey but not like Benefit poreprimer. Like velvety siliconey-oily something. It’s not oily but it’s more smooth silicone consistency? I’m so bad trying to describe such things. A lot of reviews on this primer say that it balls up when you try to apply foundation over it. HERE are few mistakes people are making. Yes, it can ball up if you don’t let it at least for 4-5 minutes to sit on your skin or you apply too much. You know how sometimes people pump too much of a product and try to use it all? Don’t do that with this primer. That’s all. You don’t need to pile it and you need to let it set on your skin. Another plus it didn’t cause any pimples. Sometimes if I wear foundation all day from early morning I can see some blemish forming  at the end of the day. It didn’t happen with this primer. But I’m not sure is it the primer protecting my skin  or something else? If you apply it on it’s own it doesn’t fill in pores. It blurs skin a little but nothing really BLURRING. I would say that those silicone-y primers make your skin look duller than before so I wouldn’t wear it on its own. And even it contains some oil and skincare ingredients it didn’t make my skin oilier. By the way  here is a sample on photo and I had several such samples which lasted quite some time as well as travel version of this primer.

Repurchase: Not sure. I’m lost here.

Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover – no, it doesn’t remove totally your cuticle but it does help to soften and move it with pusher after and get some dry skin away around your nails. You can leave it like that and use oil after you remove remover 😀 Or you can soften cuticle, move with pusher and cut with cuticle clippers whatever is not looking nice around.

Repurchase:  Already did.  I didn’t try anything better yet.

That was a really long Empties post. Did you survive till the end?:D

Did you try anything from this post? Share your experience with those products and may be you have some recommendations for me;)

Have a nice day..or evening!:)

  1. The Body Shop mask sounds just awful. I used one from them while staying at a friend’s house. It was something from the Spa collection with leaves inside it. It buuuuurned the skin (no red face, though) but it left it looking a lot more clear and glowy for a few days.
